2018! This year has never happened before. We may anticipate some events, but others will surprise us. This January may seem like any other, but the month ushers in a year as unique as you are. 2018 is a gift. We can choose how we unwrap it.
Maybe you begin a new role this year or you will transition into a new one. Just like a student going off to college for the first time or a mom welcoming home a new baby, we’ve never lived this season of life before. Because of our fine lines, people may assume we know what we’re doing and that our lives are slow and dull, but you and I know better.
Maybe you’re unsure of your role now that your children are scattering or younger bosses are changing things up at work. Maybe you feel like you’re in a rowboat with no map, no shores and no oars. The autumn years are years of transition, and the course is often foggy, like warm days followed by cool nights.
Do not fear. Other women step out with you on uncertain waters. Together, we can makes this year triumphant. Our Savior is the captain, and He is not asleep. He commands His crew, His missions and even the weather. We must keep our eyes on Him, and we’ll walk on water.
Before putting away the 2017 calendar, look through the pages, or scan through the reminders and pictures of the past year on your phone. What happy times do they remind you of, and what times did our Lord uphold you as you walked through rough patches? Give thanks for all the times last year and take courage that He will journey with you through the events of this year.
Between Women, in 2018, God will write His story with our hands, and together we can help each other find the words to say.
